Q. I can hear sound during the introduction, but in some of the games no sound is playing. How can I check my sound settings?
A. Should any of the activities fail to play sound you may need to configure the sound device on your computer by following the steps below.
1. Close down Mini Musical Monsters.
2. Go to the Start Menu and select Programs, then Q&D Multimedia, then Setup Mini Musical Monsters. The sound devices available are listed under Midi Output Device with the currently selected device appearing in black.
3. Click on an alternative sound device to select it.
4. Click Done.
5. Run Mini Musical Monsters.
6. If this does not fix the problem repeat the steps, trying each sound device available.

Performance issues
If the activities appear to be playing slowly and sounds are not synchronising properly your computer may perform better if the quality of the graphics is reduced. Press Ctrl+Shift+G on a PC or Apple+Shift+G on a Mac to reduce graphics quality. You will notice the edges of the graphics will become more jagged. Press Ctrl+Shift+G on a PC or Apple+Shift+G on a Mac to restore the graphics quality.
‘application error: this application cannot run’ when launching the program
This error is based on a conflict between various versions of these two files; dirapi.dll and iml32.dll.
1. Search for these files (dirapi.dll and iml32.dll) within the WINDOWS or SYSTEM folders and move them to a safe location. We suggest moving them onto the desktop to begin with
2. Launch the program
3. Once the program is running, they can then be deleted
Director Player Error
This can occur when launching the program if the resolution of your machine is set to 640*480. The minimum resolution required is 800*600. To change the resolution of your monitor take the following steps:
1. Right-click on your desktop and select Properties
2. Select the Settings tab
3. Drag the screen resolution slider to 800*600 or above
4. Click Apply to change the resolution and then click Yes to accept the change
